1. As April observed, every time the Cullen vampires tried to look angry, they looked constipated. Especially the actor who played Jasper. Seriously, give the kids some fiber.
2. Lines like, "You're like a drug to me, my own personal heroin." This was supposed to be romantic.
3. So, in the book, Edward (the hero vampire) can't stand Bella's smell at first because it makes him want to suck her blood. You can't miss this classic scene: Bella (the heroine or should I say heroin) walks into the science lab and crosses in front of a large metal fan. No idea why the fan was there ( I don't remember small details of the book to know if this was even in the book)--anyway, the fan starts blowing her hair around and she shakes her head around like she is in a music video. While Bella is having her video hussy moment, the smell blows over to Edward. He looks like he is about to vomit. Then, he looks even more like he is about to vomit by throwing his hand over his mouth and physically retching forward a couple times.
4. In the book Bella and Edward end up in the meadow and talk about him being a vampire--the movie people try to replicate this scene from the book, including the moment where Edward's skin glistens like millions of diamonds and Bella is struck by the beauty. The special effect made it look like someone was pouring gallons of salt in front of the face of the actor.
5. Every time the vampires bite someone, they don't show teeth or blood so it looked like people running around giving each other hickeys.
Despite the many-flawed first half, the pace picked up quite a bit in the second half and the ending actually made me want to watch the next one. Wendy's verdict--you may want to wait and pay the video rental price, but it's definitely worth a watch. I haven't laughed, groaned or awwwed that much in a movie in a long time.
